In 2024, Wisconsin Evolution inaugurated a new annual invited lecture and community discussion, focused on the past, present, and future relationships between evolutionary biology and diversity, equity, and inclusion. “Shifting Balance” repurposes the name of a classic evolutionary theory proposed by former UW professor Sewall Wright, in order to focus consideration on how positive changes may be advanced in our research, teaching, and outreach.
